ABOUT THE ROLE
The role is to provide leadership and management to the Litigation & Regulatory Team (Legal Services), which is a busy and supportive team. The team provides a range of legal advice and support conducting prosecutions and civil litigation, licensing, advising on regulatory functions, trading standards, environmental health, and education offences.

This post involves advocacy in the Magistrates’ and County courts, including contested hearings, so experience of advocacy is essential.
You will be required to provide training to client teams and stakeholders.
You must be able to lead and manage a team and be flexible, enthusiastic, and committed, as the role will involve providing support to the legal senior management team while managing your own caseload.
You may from time to time be asked to deputise for more senior managers and take on challenges that stretch your field of expertise.
Experience gained in a Local Authority setting would assist, as would an understanding of local government and administrative law, and an appreciation of the challenges facing local authorities is key to the role. You will ideally have experience of attending committees and be able to attend occasional evening meetings.
