Job Description:
Leader Education is recruiting a Mental Health/Behaviour Support Classroom Assistant to work at a school in Gateshead specializing in supporting students aged 5-16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Students in this school may have been permanently excluded from their previous schools and may exhibit challenging behaviors. The ideal candidate will have some experience working with children with SEMH needs and behavioral challenges. The school emphasizes motivating students to ensure an engaging curriculum and a successful transition into the next stage of their lives.
The latest Ofsted report rated this school as "Good," highlighting their inspiring curriculum and supportive environment tailored to students' underlying needs.
The normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. This is a long-term position, subject to a successful trial period.
The successful candidate will have:
* An enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
* Experience with children or young people exhibiting SEMH needs or challenging behavior
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A patient, compassionate personality capable of supporting students in accessing the curriculum and classroom activities
* A strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
* Adaptability and commitment to meeting diverse student needs
