The lead midwife for Antenatal and Newborn Screening and Fetal Medicine, within the framework of Clinical Governance will lead the team in delivering the antenatal and newborn screening programme and oversee the fetal medicine programme, ensuring the service is conducive to delivering high quality care and acknowledging the diverse needs of women and their babies. The post holder will lead on quality issues and be responsible for the amalgamation of the antenatal and newborn screening and fetal medicine programmes across the four sites of University Hospitals Sussex. The post holder will provide clinical expertise, professional direction and leadership to the screening coordinators, midwives and maternity support workers within maternity services. They will be responsible for providing specialist advice and support to the clinical teams so that maternal and fetal screening pathways and systems are in line with the National Screening Committee (NSC) standards. They will action, implement and monitor the quality assurance of all the Screening Programmes ensuring that appropriate failsafe systems are in place, confirming, that all population screening is undertaken to the highest standard. They will provide regular formal updates on the performance of the Screening Programmes to the screening commissioners at NHS England.
