An exciting opportunity has arisen within South Lanarkshire Council’s Personnel Services who are seeking a Learning and Development Advisor to lead the council’s Social Work Learning and Development team.
The successful candidate will have a social work background; experience working in a learning and development environment; people and financial management experience.
The variety and complexity of training and support provided by the Social Work Learning and Development team is vast and that is where the challenges of this role exist. Keeping employees up to date with their statutory requirements; keeping them safe at work; sourcing, developing and delivering interventions that ensure employees can fulfil their potential with appropriate support; and ensuring social work colleagues can access what is needed to progress within their chosen career.
As a Learning and Development Advisor you will lead a team of social work trainers who design and deliver learning and development interventions across all areas of the service. You will also be responsible for leading on the Trauma Informed Practice agenda.
This role will require you to proactively plan for the future by keeping up to date with national standards, statutory requirements, and legislation across all areas of social work. You will be aware of the workforce challenges facing services and work closely with colleagues to ensure workforce and succession planning is aligned with learning and development plans that support services deliver on the council’s overall objectives.
This is a key management role where you will have the opportunity to shape the future of learning and development across all areas of social work. You will contribute to the development of the learning and development strategy, be a key driver of its success and of driving change, and lead on developing a service that supports our teams and partners to deliver life-changing support, ensuring adults, children and families in our communities are safe and well-cared for.
