The University of Bristol is seeking a Compliance Officer (Mechanical Gas) to help provide support to the Compliance and Contracts Manager, ensuring compliance with all mechanical and gas regulations and help ensure the smooth running of the mechanical and gas management plan across our estate.
In this role, you will assist with mechanical and gas servicing management, carrying out audits to ensure high standards are maintained and action remedials identified by contractors. You will advise University stakeholders of unsafe situations and assess the impact, both operationally and legally. You will help ensure that all work meets our legal obligations, assist in maintaining accurate records, and contribute to the University’s comprehensive mechanical and gas servicing schedule.
What will you be doing?
* Support in running the mechanical and gas management plan to advance safety awareness, overseeing day-to-day contractor management, and coordinating with Campus Division for seamless project handovers.
* Support in conducting compliance training and toolbox talks for the direct labour force, enhancing awareness and safety in compliance testing.
* Contribute to quarterly contractor meetings to review KPIs, health and safety incidents, financial matters, and project updates.
* Monitor and analyse compliance documentation, audits, and unsafe situations to help determine remedial actions; with high priority matters being escalated to senior management as needed.
* Act as a specialist contact for mechanical and gas management, providing stakeholders with detailed guidance on complex legislation and policy changes.
* Develop and improve the University’s mechanical and gas processes, to help manage both digital and paper-based reporting systems.
You should apply if
* ACS Certification including CCN1, CEN1, CPA1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1A.
* Demonstrated experience working in the domestic and commercial gas industry.
* A proven ability to help drive change in mechanical and gas compliance practices, ideally in a large, complex estate or similar environment.
* Strong experience in conducting risk assessments, developing method statements, and auditing contractor work to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Exceptional communication skills and the capability to provide clear guidance to project managers and stakeholders regarding asbestos regulations and safe work practices.
