Main duties of the job
1. Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop personalized treatment plans for patients.
2. Direct to appropriate services to provide evidence-based interventions and therapy to individuals, couples, and families dealing with various mental health issues.
3. Collaborate with the general practice team, including doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals, to ensure integrated care for patients.
4. Offer primary care level of crisis intervention and support to patients in need of immediate assistance.
5. Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation and patient records.
7. Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and coordinate care.

Person Specification
Experience
* At least 5 years experience working within a mental health setting with experience in mental health assessment and formulation of treatment plans.
* Experience in prescribing psychotropic medication and be an independent prescriber or working towards this.
* Valid license or registration as a mental health practitioner in the relevant jurisdiction.
* Proven experience working as a mental health practitioner, preferably in a general practice or primary care setting.
* Strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic interventions for a range of mental health conditions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with patients.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with healthcare professionals from various backgrounds.
* Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach to patient care.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with current research and best practices in mental health.
* A valid driver's license and the ability to travel between multiple locations as needed.
