JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Senior Materials Manager, the successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for shipping finished lasers, spare parts, and laser equipment across the globe. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES. Coordinates and consolidates domestic and international systems to support shipments, predominantly via airfreight. Ensures lowest cost transportation by analyzing Company and customer needs, researching transportation methods and auditing carrier costs and performances. Interprets laws, rules and regulations regarding shipping and supports Import/Export Compliance with their regulatory requirements. Maintains logs and compiles information on routes, rates and services on various vendors. Ensures all traffic lanes are optimized and aligned with company strategies. Implements and evaluate cost savings initiatives. Contributes towards and helps to analyse key performance indicators for all international and domestic carriers. Analyses impact of proposed lane changes, shipment modes and product mixes. Conducts Oracle transactions in dispositioning material to be ready for shipment. Contributes towards compliance of the business as a Known Consignor. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Previous experience in a similar role and / or experience in Freight Forwarding is an advantage. Strong organisational and communication skills at a cross-functional level across a wide variety of departments (Production, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Sales). High level of attention to detail. Industry knowledge of freight-forwarding and import/export procedures. Experience of Microsoft Office packages is essential. Solid administrative skills with the ability to deliver against tight deadlines. Able to work on your own initiative and self-motivated with a positive approach. Preferred Additional Skills Experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Previous experience of Oracle and Oracle Transportation Management is highly desirable.
