General Greenhouse / Packhouse Worker
Job Summary
Anchor Nurseries Ltd (based in Woodmansey, East Yorkshire) grows, harvests and packs cucumbers in greenhouses on a 3.2 Hectare site from January to November. Anchor Nurseries Ltd is a fourth-generation family company which has grown fresh produce for over 60 years.
The position is to learn the various tasks required to help grow a cucumber crop from packing to planting, to crop working, to picking, to pull out and replanting.
Hours & Pay
5-6 days per week
Monday – Friday: 6.30am-3pm
Saturday & Sunday 6.30am-12 noon (Applicant must be able to work at least 3 weekend mornings each month)
Pay rate: £10.42
Overtime rate: Time and a half
Job Purpose/duties
To tend, care, harvest and carry out general crop husbandry
1. Carry out duties and any reasonable tasks as required by the supervisor or manager.
2. To tend and care for crops as required by management by either verbal or written instruction.
3. To harvest crops to the required quality standards and/or customer specifications.
4. Be engaged in cleaning of the glasshouse blocks and clearing of crop debris as and when required.
5. To adhere to glasshouse procedures with reference to hygiene, health and safety and food and drink consumption.
6. To be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team and be able to take instructions from management.
7. Be able to work in Packhouse Environment when required packing cucumbers into trays.
8. To abide by all food safety and hygiene regulations.

Work Trials
A short work (1-2 hours) trial may be requested to ensure suitability from both sides. Should the employee be successful this trial work will be paid for in their wage once employed.
Job Seasonality
The length of work will depend on the growing season, generally the post will run until the end of October.
