FM Conway is currently seeking an experienced Senior Bridge Inspector to join our Consultancy division. As our Senior Bridge Inspector, you will play a crucial role in examining, evaluating, and ensuring the safety and structural integrity and longevity of bridges and other structures through comprehensive inspections, detailed reporting, and effective team leadership. This role involves routine and emergency inspections, identifying potential hazards or damage, and recommending maintenance or repairs. This is a full time, permanent position, with the opportunity to be based from our London Offices.
The duties of the Senior Bridge Inspector will include:
- Conducting thorough general and principal inspections and emergency inspections of various bridge types and highway structures for our clients across London and the South East
- Producing comprehensive inspection reports, including detailed descriptions of findings, high-quality photographs, and precise measurements
- Recommending repair and maintenance options and relevant costs
- Working closely with engineers, contractors, and local authorities to plan repairs or rehabilitation
- Leading and coordinating inspection teams members for complex structure assessments
- Conducting risk assessments for each inspection site and implement appropriate safety measures
- Providing technical advice and support to other departments as needed
What skills and experience do you need?
We are looking for a passionate and driven Senior Bridge Inspector with experience in inspecting highways and bridge structures as well as knowledge in using Bridgestation and other specific databases such as IAMIS. You will also have thorough knowledge of CS450, Eurocodes, and other relevant UK bridge inspection and design standards. Also a Chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE.) however, this is not essential.
