Job summary Wotton Lawn Hospital is a 66 bedded acute In-Patient Unit for Working Age Adults with a range of complex mental health conditions. Wotton Lawn has 4 acute wards, and a fully equipped Therapy Department (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Health & Exercise). In addition, there is a Low secure and a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit on site. The Therapy Department provides a 7-day service. The post involves having a responsibility for devising and providing Occupational Therapy intervention to in-patient service users with complex mental health needs. This will incorporate the principles of Recovery and Social Inclusion, to ensure effective and safe discharge planning. The post holder will also have responsibility for delegating tasks as outlined in individual Occupational Therapy intervention plans. A commitment to team working is essential. The post holder should be able to demonstrate effective clinical reasoning skills, apply theory to practice and communicate effectively with patients, their carer's and colleagues alike. Use the Model of Human Occupation, and associated assessment tools, within clinical practice, and to support clinical reasoning. Ensure risks associated with intervention and environment are assessed and managed in collaboration with MDT.
