The Quality/Management System/DPO Lead plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the effectiveness of our integrated management system (IMS) within the complex and highly regulated environment of the nuclear industry. You will leverage your expertise in management system standards, a deep understanding of nuclear industry best practices, and strong problem-solving skills to lead a team of quality professionals. As DPO you will play a critical role on overseeing the company's data privacy and compliance with data protection laws, specifically the GDPR regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. This role sits out with the data and information security team to provide the independence required and will have a direct reporting line to the Corporate Services Director.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the continuous improvement of our IMS, ensuring its effectiveness in supporting the achievement of organisational objectives.
* Lead a team of quality professionals in conducting internal audits, developing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement within the management system.
* Analyse complex quality issues and develop effective solutions to address risks and non-conformance's within the nuclear operations.
* Identify opportunities for integrating quality considerations across all aspects of nuclear facility operations and activities.
* Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between the IMS and operational processes.
* Stay up-to-date on evolving management system standards, industry best practices, and nuclear industry regulations to adapt and enhance our quality management approach.
* Provide strong leadership and direction to the Quality Assurance (QA) team, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organisation.
* Develop and manage the QA budget and resources, ensuring efficient utilisation to support quality initiatives.
* Oversee the development and maintenance of quality documentation, including policies, procedures, and quality plans for nuclear operations.
* Represent the organisation at external audits, regulatory agency meetings, and industry forums, demonstrating a commitment to the highest quality standards.
* Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and best practices related to quality and management systems.
* Implement and monitor policies for data handling, storage, and processing to protect sensitive information.
* Conduct regular audits to assess data protection compliance and identify potential risks.
* Provide training and guidance to staff on data protection requirements within the context of quality management.
* Advise on the identification, assessment and investigation of data breaches and lead reporting to the Information Commissioners Office within the 72 hour mandatory window as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
* Experience in leading and managing quality management systems, preferably within the nuclear industry (or another complex, highly regulated sector).
* Proven experience of successfully implementing continuous improvement initiatives within the QA function.
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team, build relationships with stakeholders, and influence decision-making.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify systemic issues, develop solutions, and ensure compliance with regulations.
* Strong commitment to quality excellence and a passion for achieving the highest standards within the nuclear industry.
* Familiarity with data protection laws (e.g., GDPR) and their application in quality management systems.
Qualifications:
* Master's degree in a related field preferred or demonstrable professional experience.
* Chartered Member of the Chartered Quality Institute.
