We are a district general hospital based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire with a vision to provide first class consultant-delivered care to the children and families of Nuneaton, North Coventry, and West Leicestershire. We see 2,200 births each year in our consultant-led maternity unit and have strong links with our LMNS partner hospitals. Our Unit is friendly and led by eight consultants (this will be the eighth post).
We seek a dynamic, charismatic, and energetic individual with an interest in Colposcopy / Outpatient Hysteroscopy and Medical Education to lead our staff into a brave new era and fit in with our vision for our maternity service.

Main duties of the job
1. To support and complement both the Obstetrics and Gynaecology services provided by George Eliot Hospital NHS
2. To take clinical responsibility for a defined cohort of women under their care, both when outpatients and inpatients
3. To provide consultant presence on the Labour Ward and participate in the out-of-hours consultant rota
4. To participate in 'Consultant of the week' (Hot Week) and to provide consultant cover for the Maternity Assessment Unit and Triage during these weeks
5. Pursue an interest in Medical Education and assume the College Tutor role
6. To be responsible for the obstetric training of junior staff and undergraduate students. The role will provide leadership and input for the PROMPT
7. To be involved in appraisal and assessment of junior staff and undergraduate students. To actively participate in clinical teaching and training of the wider multidisciplinary team
8. To take an active role in Clinical Governance, and lead and participate in audit projects relevant to clinical care
9. To undertake the necessary administrative work relating to the role
10. To promote research and academic activity within the department
11. To attend Trust and Departmental induction and mandatory training

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
* Fully trained in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
* Clinical Knowledge and Expertise: Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgment to problems demonstrates clear, logical thinking/analytical approach understands evidence-based practice
* ATSM in Out Patient Hysteroscopy
* ATSM in EPAU management
* IT Skills, ability to use web browser, excel, word etc
* Willingness to develop skills and experience in areas of interest.
* Evidence of regularly undertaking audits and management of change in line with the audit recommendations
Desirable
* Evidence of clinical or research commitment and a relevant specialty interest.
* Ability to perform/ interest in performing laparoscopic hysterectomies
Qualification and Professional Training
Essential
* MBBS or Equivalent
* Full GMC Registration, with licence to practice
* MRCOG or Equivalent
* Membership of relevant Specialist Societies or Associations eg BSCCP
Desirable
* Higher degree e.g., MSc, MD or equivalent
