What skills and experience we're looking for
DETAILS OF THE POST
This post is available from September 2025. We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher to teach Art and Design to A level across a variety of media with particular strengths in Fine Art. Our students are academically able and well-motivated and achieve excellent results.
THE DEPARTMENT
Art is a popular course at Parkstone with excellent results at GCSE and A level, with many students going on to Art Degrees or Art Foundation Courses locally after they complete their Advanced Level studies.
Art and Design is taught by an innovative department in a school which places value on independent learning through the creative journey. This subject is multi-media based following the AQA Fine Art syllabus. Students are encouraged to take a broad-based approach to the subject and independent learning is seen as a key factor in promoting individualism and the realisation of ‘self’ through Art. The Leadership Group and Governors are extremely supportive of the department and appreciate both its curricular importance and the role it plays in promoting the school.
