The Research Assistant will support the “Sleep and Memory” study, investigating the relationship between sleep oscillations and memory consolidation in depression. This role involves participant recruitment, conducting assessments, and setting participants up for overnight sleep recordings. Working closely with researchers at Orygen and the University of Melbourne, you’ll contribute to cutting-edge mental health research in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Liaise with clinical teams and recruit research participants from mental health services as well as from the community.
* Conduct research assessments with participants using a range of standardised clinical and cognitive measures according to the study protocol.
* Set participants up with sleep recording equipment according to a standardised operating procedure.
You may be a great fit if:
You are an organised and adaptable researcher with a strong interest in mental health and sleep, demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration. You will be a proactive team player with the ability to manage changing priorities, contribute to research projects, and engage with participants, including conducting interviews when required.
You may also have:
* A postgraduate degree (Honours, Masters, or doctoral degree) in an appropriate field of research (e.g., Psychology, Neuroscience or a related discipline), or substantial progress towards a PhD.
* A strong interest in mental health disorders and/or sleep.
* Strong evidence of ability and desire to build an academic or research career trajectory.
* Demonstrated ability to follow standardised research protocols and conduct quantitative/qualitative data analysis, including working with databases.
