Our overarching plan is to provide our customers with a continuous supply of safe, clean and palatable drinking water by focusing on our five key priorities: our people, health & safety, water quality, risk & resilience, and efficiency. We are currently seeking a Process Technician to work across our North Oxford sites. This role presents an exciting opportunity to join a friendly team that helps produce millions of litres of water for customers across Oxfordshire daily.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of technicians, you'll ensure effective and continuous operation of sites, operating and optimising all processes and equipment on water treatment works, reservoirs, and booster stations to ensure water quality, compliance, safety, and operational efficiency. Full training is provided, including completion of the 'licence to operate' training programme.
This role also includes supervising chemical deliveries, using breathing apparatus for work with gases, working at height, and driving heavy goods vehicles. Once trained, you will be expected to participate in an out-of-hours standby rota (currently 1 in 6 weeks) for which an extra payment will be provided.
What you'll be doing as a Process Technician (Water)
1. Operation of plant and equipment, such as turning valves and opening hatches.
2. Complete site rounds of reservoir, water treatment works, and water booster sites.
3. Accurately monitor and record data to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
4. Carry out sampling and handheld instrument checks to monitor water quality.
5. Manual fault finding and intervention to maintain the treatment process or customer supply. Respond to emergencies, following established procedures to escalate and stabilise.
6. Complete mandatory and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks.
7. Take responsibility for your health and safety, highlighting safety observations and taking action to make the area safe where possible.
8. Liaise with other departments, particularly Water Quality and Maintenance, to find solutions for issues and deliver the best results for the site.
9. Complete the 'licence to operate' training programme and essential health and safety and first aid training courses.
10. Receive chemical deliveries, work at height (e.g., water towers), and drive heavy goods vehicles or tow trailers.
Base location: Farmoor - Oxford - OX2 9NS.
Working pattern: 38 hours per week.
Requirements for the role:
1. A full UK driving licence.
2. Demonstrate a 'can-do' attitude, strong problem-solving abilities, and a solution-focused approach.
3. A mechanical background or experience in a similar field is advantageous.
4. Good communication skills.
5. Competent to use company IT systems and Microsoft Office.
6. Willingness to carry out lone working, work at height, handle chemical delivery, and confined space working.
7. ADR training (desirable but not essential).

Competitive salary from £26,000 to £30,000 per annum depending on experience, plus inclusion on standby rota for which extra payment will be provided.
