Role Details: Construction Manager - Montrose Based Altrad Major Projects business are looking to expand on a £11m project that has overall responsibility of Construction Management, covering plant strip out and the installation of new process plant. To support our growth we anticipate the need for a Construction Manager to support the Project Manager with the development, planning and delivery of comprehensive, world class Construction HSE Management Systems, processes and performance across the project. What will you be doing? Provide strategic leadership in order to develop and maintain an effective and efficient construction and HSE Management System which will ensure compliance with all UK statutory requirements and industry leading best practice Support effective and efficient delivery of Principal Contractor & Principal Designer roles within CDM 2015 Monitor and report to the QHSE function and management team on construction HSE performance and, where necessary, make recommendations for strategic improvement Develop relationships and engagement with key regulators at a site level on construction HSE matters to fully understand current and future Statutory requirements Ensure that a comprehensive Construction Plan is prepared and updated, which co-ordinates all Project construction activities To ensure that all activities within this responsibility are undertaken on time to allow the smooth progression throughout the Project from Initiation to Handover To ensure that the project delivers all statutory and regulatory requirements in the construction arena and complies with all relevant GSK standards Advise and assist the Project Manager in the approval of construction invoices Set up and chair regular meetings to ensure construction progress and safety are managed to meet the requirements of the project To influence the design, to ensure that the new or modified plant and/or building is capable of being constructed and maintained in a safe manner To support as necessary for any design reviews and assessments to be undertaken and to participate in them as appropriate, for example: HAZCON Key Responsibilities: The opportunity will ensure all aspects of Construction HSE are applicable to the company’s activities and scope of delivery are consistently managed across the EPCM business while maintaining and enhancing the progressive Project Safety culture within the business through effective visible leadership, engagement and communication, focusing on behavioural aspects as well as procedural compliance. Day to day you will also ensure all requirements for construction are delivered at the appropriate time within the Project life cycle and a safe system of work is in place prior to construction activities taking place, construction strategies are prepared and kept updated while all involved team members and contractors, where appropriate, are aware, agree and understand their responsibilities to minimise the impact on the Site during construction activities. Key Requirements: Minimum Qualifications CITB SMSTS Site Management Safety Training Scheme IOSH Managing safety Preferred Qualifications Diploma/Degree in relevant Engineering or Construction Experience Minimum 5 - 10 years in a Project Construction Management Role Experience in a Pharmaceutical, Life Science or specialist environment Experience in plant and equipment strip out in a live operational environment Key Competencies Sound knowledge and understanding of construction, HS&E compliance and governance appropriate to Projects Significant professional experience in a construction Manager role gained on major projects Sound knowledge and understanding of Construction / Industrial Health and Safety Sound knowledge and understanding of Statutory HS&E requirements applied to Projects Sound knowledge and understanding of Environmental Management Requirements Sound knowledge and understanding of Human Performance factors Professional level understanding and delivery of CDM 2015 Sound Leadership, Communication and Influencing skills Sound written and document management skills Sound knowledge and understanding of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 Effective application of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 Why Join Us?
