The division of Access and Medicine has been rated as Outstanding in the recent CQC visit in 2020. The Medicine Division at the Royal Surrey is organised into a number of individual Strategic Business Units, which include inpatient, outpatient and day case services. Inpatient medicine is organised in a specialty ward-based structure, with triage from the emergency assessment unit to ward based specialty care based upon clinical need. The Royal Surrey is a District General Hospital, with regional speciality referrals from across the South Coast, and incorporates the St Lukes Cancer centre, as well as one of the largest ICUs in the region. Medical specialties include Acute Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, (dedicated) Hepatology, Rheumatology, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Neurology, Stroke and Frailty (Ageing and Health). We also provide care for Acute Elderly Admissions and step-down care for patients in a less acute phase of their admission at Milford Hospital.
