We are looking to recruit an Assistant/Associate Professor to the School of Computer Science to enhance our successful and growing department and specifically to build upon and increase its links to the biological sciences.
The School has a long history of productive interdisciplinary collaborations with academics in the biosciences at the University of Nottingham and beyond. We frequently collaborate with colleagues to develop and apply machine learning and computational modelling approaches to address real-world biological problems. We seek a candidate with a strong Computer Science background and an interest in interdisciplinary research experience across the biological sciences. The candidate should have or be building research expertise in the development and application of machine learning and/or computational modelling approaches to the biological sciences, preferably in at least one of the following areas: Agriculture, Animal, Food and Nutrition, Biotechnology, and Environmental Science.
Our vision as a School is to be highly rated in all areas: Research and Knowledge Exchange, Education, and Student Experience. We are committed to creating opportunities for people from groups traditionally underrepresented in the field of Computer Science, and therefore the ability to relate to and mentor students and colleagues within an increasingly diverse community is essential.
This is a permanent position. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 18.25 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part-time and the number of preferred hours. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements. Job share arrangements may be considered.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Jamie Twycross (Jamie.Twycross@nottingham.ac.uk). Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
