Behaviour Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Specialist School
Hammersmith & Fulham | ASAP Start | £90-£115/day (Experience-Dependent)
Teaching Personnel is urgently seeking a resilient, empathetic Behaviour Specialist SEN TA to join an outstanding SEMH specialist school in Hammersmith & Fulham. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting children with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours.
The Role in Detail:
Behaviour & Emotional Support
* Work 1:1 and in small groups with students aged 5-16 with SEMH needs, trauma, ADHD, ASD, and attachment difficulties
* Implement de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour plans
* Support emotional regulation using therapeutic approaches (e.g., Zones of Regulation, PACE model)
* Assist in crisis intervention when required (training provided)
Classroom & Academic Support
* Adapt learning materials to meet individual EHCP targets
* Encourage engagement in lessons using motivational strategies
* Support core subjects (English, Maths) with a focus on functional skills
* Assist with social skills development and life skills training
Team Collaboration
* Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SENCO to deliver tailored support
* Provide feedback on student progress and behaviour patterns
* Attend multi-agency meetings (where required)
We Need Someone With:
✅ Experience in SEMH settings, PRUs, or specialist schools (minimum 6 months preferred)
✅ Training/certification in Team Teach, MAPA, or restraint training (desirable but not essential)
✅ Understanding of trauma-informed practice and attachment-aware approaches
✅ Resilience, patience, and a proactive attitude – no two days are the same!
✅ A drive to make a real difference in vulnerable children’s lives

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
