Overall Job Purpose:• To provide specialist support in a special curricular/resource area, namely Technology and Vocational Subjects • In this case, in the technology / engineering / construction workshops. The position will support the smooth running of these subjects, assist teachers to prepare for their lessons and ensure the maintenance of resources and relevant Health and safety checks
Support for the school: Be aware of and comply with related child protection, health, safety and security and confidentiality policies and procedures, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person. Be aware of and support difference and ensure that all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop. Contribute to the overall ethos/work/objectives of the department and school. Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals, in contact with the teacher, to support pupils' achievement and progress. Attend and participate in relevant meetings. Participation in training and other learning activities and performance management development as required. Identify the strengths and areas of expertise of the self and use these to advise and support others. Assist with supervision, training and staff development. Act as fire marshall and as part of the team available to support in times of crisis such as a fire, or a critical incident. Assist other school technicians with general maintenance, especially the theatre.
Support for Curriculum / Department:Assist the Subject / Field leader in organising and monitoring stock within an agreed budget, cataloguing resources and undertaking calculations as required. Maintain specialist equipment, check for quality/safety, refer any concern to the site manager to have specialist companies assess the level of repair. Conduct tests / inspections of resources and machinery in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines. Demonstrate and assist in the safe and efficient use of specialised equipment/materials. Provide expert advice and guidance as required.
Support for the Teacher Create and maintain a dedicated, organised and productive working environment. Timely and accurate planning, preparation and use of specialist equipment/resources/materials. Assist in the development of curricular resources. Assisting the teacher to prepare for practical lessons. Contribute towards the design, development and organisation of systems/procedures/policies. Be responsible for keeping records, information and data, producing analyses and reports as appropriate, specifically with regard to the recording of health and safety tests and machinery tests. Implement specific work/practical lesson programmes with pupils under the guidance of the teacher. Promote and ensure the health and safety and good behaviour of pupils at all times.Support for Pupils:Use specialist skills/training/experience mainly in carpentry handling and other resistant materials to support pupils.
