MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide Clinical Leadership for colleagues in the Childrens Dental Service. The Development of the CDS in line with the requirements of The Bailiwick of Guernseyand HSC. Oversee the day-to-day management of the CDS by the Practice Manager and the SeniorDental Nurse. Developing a timely Health Promotion and Department Strategy to target healthinequalities in the school community and improve clinical effectiveness and outcomes forpatients. Providing evidence-based Paediatric Dental care, in line with UK Guidance, to the childrenof Guernsey who fulfil the departments criteria for receiving clinical care through the CDS. Ensuring all care provided by the other CDS Specialist services is evidenced based, withinService criteria and in line with UK Guidance. The promotion and development of a prevention and appropriate intervention focusedservice. The management of, and clinical participation in, the provision of comprehensivepaedodontic treatments under general anaesthesia and sedation. The provision of School Screening and Epidemiological Programmes as required byPublic Health. Supporting and overseeing the development of a cohesive oral health strategy within thecontext of general health and linking with other agencies and partners. Working with the visiting Consultants in Orthodontics and Oral Surgery. Liaising with General Dental Practitioners, Medical colleagues and other health and socialcare professionals, managers and other agencies. Working with other Professional Teams to ensure the effective delivery of multidisciplinarycare. Representing the CDS on HSC Committees as and when required. Working with the support services to ensure the smooth running of the CDS activities. Identifying their own professional development needs and ensuring that their training andCPD is appropriate for their role and in line with the requirements of the GDC and HSC. Identifying and implementing the professional development needs of the CDS Team inline with their personal development as well as that of The Service, the requirements ofthe GDC and HSC. Liaising with and reporting to their Line Manager on a regular basis. Maintaining professional links with UK Specialists and Dental organisations. Active participation in the Guernsey Dental Association and the On-Call EmergencyDental Service. Undertaking any other duties that may be required from time to time, which areappropriate to their position. Ensuring the CDS works in accordance with the policies and procedures of HSC and TheStates. Provide leadership and have overall responsibility for the Departments ClinicalGovernance, Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Safeguarding and Health & Safetystandards as required by HSC. Regularly meet with the Practice Manager to plan monitoring for the continuousimprovement of quality and safety in the CDS. Report annually on the CDS performance and activity levels.
