Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust
Our Children's nursing team is expanding, led by our Director of Nursing for Child Health, ensuring children and young people receive high-quality care across our organisation. You'll always be learning and developing your knowledge, supported by a Clinical Nurse Educator, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Quality Managers, and a friendly multidisciplinary team. We offer in-house leadership programmes and collaborate with universities to support your career development. We believe happy, motivated staff lead to patient satisfaction, so we invest in making our hospitals great places to work, living our values: Passion, Responsibility, Innovation, Drive, and Empowerment - the PRIDE at the heart of all we do.
You'll play a part in preparing the NHS for the future. We're proud to be one of only five Trusts in the country to secure a place on the Virginia Mason Institute Programme to transform patient care, and one of eight new national Vanguard sites spearheading change in urgent and emergency care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for assessing care needs, planning programmes of care, implementing and evaluating these programmes without direct supervision. You will assist with education and supervision of learners, and at times be expected to be in charge of the ward/shift, supervising and coordinating other staff as appropriate while developing yourself and others professionally.
About us
We're an organisation that is continually improving. We were the most improved Trust in England for A&E performance in 2023/24; we're no longer in special measures, and our Chief Executive, Matthew Trainer, has been named the top CEO by the Health Service Journal. Our improvements stem from a determination to deliver care we're proud of and that our patients appreciate.
Our 8,000 staff come from 146 different countries, living in the diverse London boroughs we serve. The majority are from black, Asian, and minority ethnic groups. More than 400 staff are on apprenticeship programmes, and we're proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
We operate from two main sites - King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford, hosting two of the busiest emergency departments in London with over 300,000 visits in 2023.
Patients in north east London benefit from new state-of-the-art theatres at KGH, and our Community Diagnostic Centres will significantly increase the number of scans that can be carried out.
We're looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year, making patient records accessible across the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health, improving staff efficiency and patient care.
