A leading manufacturing company in the Nuneaton area requires an Electrical Product Design Engineer with experience in electrical/controls systems to design and support new and existing products across the product lifecycle.
Electrical Design Engineer
Accountabilities & Key Tasks
1. Development of control systems and solutions to support business goals and objectives.
2. Electrical product design and continuous improvement of products to defined specifications.
3. Investigation of new technologies, methods of construction, and processes across the company’s product portfolio focusing primarily on electrical assemblies.
4. Critically assess new technologies to promote innovation within the company.
5. Preparation of accurate and correct component and assembly drawings using CAD systems.
6. Preparation of BoMs to enable products to be released into production.
7. Identification of electrical areas in active projects that can be value engineered.
8. Liaising with external manufacturers and suppliers to establish specifications.
9. Preparation of wiring diagrams for both end users and the production department.
10. Ability to interpret product safety and performance standards and to create and critically review designs in conformance to them.
11. Proactively fostering good working relationships with colleagues across the business on a national and international basis.
12. Identification of areas for improvement within the existing manufacturing process.
13. Prototype construction and performance evaluation.
14. Support the technical support team as a 2nd stage escalation with either over-the-phone support or site attendance if required.
Educational and Professional Level
HND, BEng or MEng in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
Type and Depth of Experience
Requirements
1. 5 years+ in electrical product design.
2. Strong and rigorous approach to design.
3. Proven record of identifying new technologies to drive innovation.
4. Experience in motor control, PID control of heaters, HMI, SCADAs, Building Management Systems, BACnet, Modbus, etc.
Desirables
1. Product design experience within the HVAC industry.
2. Experience fault finding electrical circuits.
3. 18th Edition qualified.
4. Experience of simulation engineering.
