Job Description:
Serco is currently recruiting for a Trainee Technician Engineer to join our RTS team in Derby. The key purpose of the role is to work on railway industry projects while acquiring the necessary knowledge, skills, and qualifications to grow with our business.
Depending on your previous experience and qualifications, training will be provided to bring you up to a minimum of HNC level academically, with practical trade skills to prepare you for the role of Technician Engineer at the end of training.
Key Accountabilities:
* Assist in designing, building, evaluating, calibrating, and documenting electronic systems used for testing in the railway environment.
* Assist in installing and operating these systems on railway vehicles and infrastructure.
* Assist in processing recorded data and producing test reports for customers.
* Attend training courses as deemed necessary by the Principal Engineer.
What you need to do the job:
* Be numerate, accurate, and possess a good level of literacy (minimum GCSE grade 4 in English and Mathematics).
* Have a keen interest in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
* Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work in a team or independently as required.
* Have excellent timekeeping and organizational skills.
* Willingness to work outside regular hours and in remote locations occasionally.
