User Researcher – Defence & Security
Locations: London, Bristol, Cheltenham, Manchester
Salary: £50,000-£80,000
Benefits Package: 5-10% bonus, DV clearance bonus, private medical, dental, and optical insurance, 25 days annual leave plus public holidays (option to buy up to 10 additional days), cash allowance.

This Big Four consultancy is looking for experienced User Researchers to contribute to mission-critical projects that enhance public safety and national security.
As a User Researcher, you’ll apply both qualitative and quantitative methods to uncover user insights that shape digital solutions and improve service effectiveness. You’ll work alongside multidisciplinary teams to advocate for user needs, influence design decisions, and ultimately create products and services that resonate with real users.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Conduct user research studies using diverse methods, including interviews, usability testing, and surveys.
2. Collect and analyse user data, transforming insights into actionable recommendations for service improvements.
3. Develop user personas, journey maps, and other research artefacts to communicate user needs effectively.
4. Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and developers to ensure user needs are integrated throughout the development lifecycle.
5. Continuously advocate for user-centred practices, refining products and services based on feedback.
6. Stay current with industry trends, tools, and methodologies in user research to maintain leading-edge practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
1. Demonstrated experience conducting user research with a variety of methods and tools.
2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights.
3. Skilled in presenting research findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
4. Experience working collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
5. Passionate about understanding user behaviour, needs, and motivations, with a commitment to enhancing user experiences.
This role requires active SC clearance sponsored by a Central Government or National Security agency (e.g., MoD, Home Office) and experience with government digital services (GDS) or the DDaT framework.
