We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join our Aseptic Pharmacy team. The post holder will manage and provide support to deliver a wide range of products prepared in the Aseptic unit including chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition and radiopharmaceuticals, and will also contribute to maintaining and developing all aspects of the pharmaceutical quality system.
The post holder will be expected to deputise for the Accountable pharmacist in his/her absence. This will include managing the Aseptic unit on a day-to-day basis, as well as maintaining all aspects of the Quality system and representing technical services in various meetings (e.g quality meetings, radioprotection meetings etc.)
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

1. Support the lead Aseptic pharmacist in the delivery of an integrated pharmaceutical production service.
2. Contribute to the provision of all forms of aseptically prepared injectable medicines, ensuring that they are prescribed and administered according to approved guidelines/protocols and within a legal framework that is fully compliant with good practice and appropriate standards.
3. For all products prepared in technical services, perform the role of an authorised Pharmacist or as an accredited product approver ensuring their competency in this role is appropriately maintained.
4. Be named on the BCUHB intrathecal register for relevant activities to ensure the safe and timely supply and administration of intrathecal chemotherapy.
5. Support the lead production pharmacist in the development and maintenance of departmental standard operating procedures.
6. Support the lead production pharmacist in the development, maintenance and approval of product worksheets as required as part of the specials manufacturing and section 10 exemption activities.
7. Support the lead production pharmacist through actively contributing to and developing the departmental Quality Management Systems (QMS) and leading specific aspects of it as directed.
8. Participate in internal and external audits of technical services and actively contribute to completion of any actions identified.
9. Record and document workload statistics and capacity for the production unit to support financial and clinical governance of all products prepared medicines, and capacity and workforce planning.
10. Supervise technical services staff and ensure MHRA guidance and GMP is observed during aseptic production of all products prepared by technical services. Support the lead production pharmacists with the education and training for all grades of staff.
11. Perform the role of the Pharmacy Radiation protection Supervisor (RPS) for the local acute site, ensuring that the service meets all requirements for Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR2017).
12. Escalate any concerns or risks associated with the Radiopharmacy service production lead Pharmacist and senior management as appropriate.
13. Attend the local radiation protection committee meetings for the local site.
