We are excited to announce that our Engineering department is seeking to hire a full-time, permanent Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering.
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about their field and hold the necessary industry qualifications to effectively teach our students.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to deliver engaging and interactive teaching, learning, and assessment to a high standard, ensuring outstanding success for all learners while meeting designated targets. You will share responsibility within course teams for the quality of course delivery and will have an agreed teaching load to instruct groups of students in one or more core program areas.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, a commitment to student development, and a genuine enthusiasm for teaching. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to inspire and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
To be successful in this role, you should possess a recognised teaching qualification (Level 5 or above) or be willing to work towards obtaining it. A solid understanding of the engineering industry is important, as you will need to combine this knowledge with your teaching skills to inspire students.
Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£30,583 - £46,263), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:
✅ Accepted Qualifications:
* DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
* Certificate in Education
* PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
* DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
* DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£25,611 - £28,817) .
❌ Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:
* PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
* CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
* CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)
