Your Impact
The Application Engineering Manager Utilities will be driving the day-to-day activities of a group of Application Engineers dispersed globally and supporting multiple instrument-based monitoring solutions used in the electrical Transmission and Distribution sector. The key objective is to provide timely support to new customers and existing users. Our customers deploy various configurations of monitors and sensors to ensure enhanced reliability and availability of large electrical assets.
The role will interact with other functional groups including sales, customer service, quotations, and Field Services. They will travel to key accounts in the region to support various issues as well as to deliver customer training. Finally, they will work with the engineering team to address any gaps or unexpected technical challenges. We have customers in over 60 countries and team members on several continents to ensure responsiveness and support within the time zone. This team is considered the talent pool for Qualitrol and has high visibility for professional growth.
Here’s where you’ll demonstrate your proficiencies:
1. Mentor and lead the Applications Engineering team to enable sales of the Qualitrol Systems for monitoring large Electrical Assets globally.
2. Work with Sales Management for efficient geographic deployment, time prioritizations, technical knowledge base, and resource allocation issues to support OTD of all proposals, pre and post-sales technical case monitoring and resolution, and in-person demonstration of various features of our technical solutions.
3. Observe AE effectiveness and financial impact on Global revenue targets along with customer response times and customer satisfaction index.
4. Identify required training and deploy as appropriate.
Skills & Experience
1. BS degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field is required. MS degree is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of broadening assignments and experience with expertise in technical customer service/commercial operations role. Preference will be given to those with knowledge and experience working or serving the utility Transmission, Distribution or Power Generation industries.
3. Good understanding of IT and communication protocols, comfortable around instrumentation and using basic programming tools where necessary.
4. Strong leader and communicator i.e. advanced presentation and public speaking track record.
5. Proven track record of leading successful teams with a focus on development and engagement.
6. Problem solving and advanced troubleshooting skills in technical and process-related issues.
7. Experience with CRM case management e.g. Salesforce.com is preferred.
