Job Description
Sustainability is key to Heathrow's success and mission of Making Every Journey Better. Our business strategy includes the People and Planet beacon, outlining our goal to become a future-ready airport. Our sustainability strategy, Heathrow 2.0, details our sustainable growth priorities and addresses critical issues.
The Carbon Strategy team and the Communities and Sustainability team collaborate with all business functions to meet environmental objectives. The Environment Manager supports these teams in managing environmental strategy on carbon, air quality, nature, waste, water, and noise, focusing mainly on technical aspects of these impacts.
Responsibilities
1. Providing technical support (primarily on carbon and nature/waste/water) to colleagues in the carbon strategy team and the communities and sustainability team as well as the wider business.
2. Undertaking analysis and research to contribute to the development and implementation of Heathrow's strategies to manage environmental impacts.
3. Inputting to Heathrow development plans and capital investment projects on environmental issues as required, working to reduce impacts and maximise opportunities.
4. Monitoring and measure environmental issues for internal or external reporting as required, supporting the Emissions and Sustainability Data Lead where relevant.
5. Establishing collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders throughout the business, including engineering, retail, finance, procurement.
6. Working with the Head of Carbon Strategy and key business units on delivery of Heathrow's Net Zero Plan.
7. Working with the Head of Energy Strategy and key business units on delivery of Heathrow's energy strategy.
Qualifications
1. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders across the business to drive positive change.
2. Possess experience in environmental management and sustainability within a business setting, particularly involving approaches to natural resources (water, nature, waste) and carbon.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of the environmental impacts associated with operating and developing an international airport.
4. Exhibit high attention to detail and quality, paired with a passion for driving business transformation.
5. Have project management experience.
6. Be experienced in data analysis, reporting, and presentation for informed decision-making.

Working Location
Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
