Member of the Independent Remuneration Board of the Senedd Multiple Appointments Location: Hybrid: Cardiff Remuneration - £310 per day Established in 2010, the Independent Remuneration Board of the Senedd is a statutory independent body with the objective of ensuring an open and transparent process for determining remuneration of Welsh Ministers, Senedd Members, Members' staff, and other financial resources. We are seeking new Members to join the Board and to ensure independent decisions on pay and direct support for Members of the Senedd are taken. Working as part of the Board you will play a part in supporting the Senedd to attract a wide range of capable and diverse candidates whilst delivering value for money for the people of Wales; the Board plays an essential part in maintaining public trust in our democratic system. With major changes to the Senedd ahead this is a particularly interesting time to join the Board. The next Welsh General Election in May 2026 will see a new electoral system with new multi-member constituencies, Members increasing from 60 to 96 and changes in how Senedd business may be organised. Using your credibility, expertise and personal integrity you will have an approach which is independent, fair-minded, and firm. You will be able to use your strategic insight and excellent communication skills to contribute to collective decisions. A commitment to and understanding of equality, sustainability and diversity and inclusion is a prerequisite. Experience We want new members for the Board who bring complementary skills, perspectives and backgrounds, and for an immediate vacancy we're seeking someone with political experience as a former elected politician. The Board operates with a Chair and 4 Members. It is likely that you will bring experience and knowledge in one or more of the following: parliamentary experience by having operated at a senior level in a relevant role experience of public life in Wales - either directly or by having operated at a senior leadership level in a relevant role specific knowledge and experience of human resources, remuneration, pensions or related matters, particularly in relation to public sector pay and including experience of pay review bodies audit, legal or governance experience and qualifications communications, engagement academic, research or public policy experience in a relevant field We are particularly committed to supporting applications from individuals from backgrounds or social groups that are currently underrepresented.
