Overview
The Proposal Coordinator / Writer plays a crucial role in developing and submitting proposals and grant applications for UKAEA. Working within the Business Development team, this role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing content, ensuring procedural compliance, and maintaining efficient bid processes. The ideal candidate should have strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
Responsibilities
Proposal and Grant Coordination / Writing:
* Support Business Development Managers and technical divisions to deliver high-quality bids and grant applications within deadlines.
* Collaborate with bid team members to gather necessary inputs for proposals and grants.
* Assist technical authors with writing non-technical sections of proposals and grants.
Content Management:
* Maintain boilerplate libraries, templates, bid folders, and BD register data according to organizational procedures.
* Regularly update and archive boilerplate content.
Procedure Management:
* Ensure bids follow the bid and opportunity proposal procedures.
* Respond promptly to audit actions and ensure their closure.
* Organize reviews and finalize submissions for commercial proposals and grants.
Submission Ownership:
* Manage submissions to clients and portals for grants as required.
* Ensure timely completion of bids, proposals, quotations, and grants within set timeframes and budgets.
Client Interaction:
* Liaise with clients or funding bodies during the bid process.
* Submit clarification questions before bid submission.
* Address client queries and provide feedback after awards.
Feedback and Lessons Learned:
* Record feedback for continuous improvement.
* Maintain bid status records in the BD register.
Reporting and Communication:
* Report progress regularly to the BD team.
* Work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
Technical Support:
* Assist technical authors with understanding the bid process.
* Guide on best practices for bid writing.
Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant fields (e.g., Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, Business, Engineering).
* Experience: Prior experience in a similar role preferred; experience with public sector grants is desirable.
Skills:
* Excellent writing and editing skills.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Understanding of bid procedures and project management principles.
