The Role We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Relief Accommodation Workers to join our team at Batt House in Bury St Edmunds. As a Relief Accommodation Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting our Accommodation Team and helping young people thrive in a safe, supportive environment. This is a flexible, as-and-when-required position, with both day and night shifts currently available. In this role, you’ll ensure the highest standards of care and support, maintaining a warm, homely atmosphere for the young people residing with us. Your contributions will be key in providing a consistent, caring presence while promoting a positive and nurturing environment for those in our accommodation project. Key Responsibilities: Support young people in their day-to-day living, offering supervision and guidance as needed Foster a supportive, caring environment that promotes the well-being, independence, and development of young people Maintain a high standard of professional practice in all aspects of the role, ensuring the safety and comfort of residents Collaborate with the team to ensure the smooth running of the accommodation service, working together to meet the needs of the young people Please refer to the job description on our website. Qualities We’re Looking For: Great interpersonal skills and the ability to provide excellent face-to-face care and support A solid understanding of confidentiality and a commitment to maintaining privacy The ability to work in a non-judgemental and non-discriminatory way, respecting diversity and individuality A positive, confident approach when interacting with young people The ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations effectively Basic computer skills for administrative tasks and communication A sunny disposition and a positive attitude, even on tough days A strong team player who works collaboratively with others to achieve shared goals In accordance with safer recruitment processes many of the roles we recruit for require successful candidates to undertake an appropriate criminal record background check.
