Are you passionate about safeguarding adults? An exciting opportunity has arisen within the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire to recruit to this key post.
The post holder will join a team of experienced safeguarding professionals in an integrated adults and children's safeguarding team committed to their work and improving experiences and outcomes of the population they serve.
The post holder will be a visible leader with the skills and vision to promote safeguarding across the Trust. In conjunction with the Lead Professional for Safeguarding, they will drive forward safeguarding activities that will ensure the Trust meets its statutory responsibilities to safeguard and is compliant with all relevant legislation and guidance.
This is a senior clinical post, supporting safeguarding strategy, and providing professional and clinical leadership, expert clinical advice and consultancy to staff, ensuring that all safeguarding standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Line manage members of the Safeguarding Team, ensuring that Personal Development Reviews (PDRs/Appraisals) and Mandatory Training requirements are being achieved.
2. Work in partnership with the Local Safeguarding Adults Board and its sub-groups to facilitate effective Safeguarding practice.
3. Deputise for the Lead Professional for Safeguarding when required.
4. Ensure that staff support and advice is readily available, and that there is clear guidance as to whom to contact for out of hours advice.
5. Support the development and delivery of robust internal systems to promote a consistent, high-quality safeguarding service.
6. Lead on the development and provision of training programmes for Safeguarding Adults (and supporting programmes for training safeguarding children) across the organisation.
7. Be an active member of the Trust's internal Safeguarding Adults, Children and Young People Committee and any working groups/forums to enhance the Safeguarding Adult agendas.
8. Lead on the delivery of the adult safeguarding agenda as per the Trust's Safeguarding Policies.
9. Ensure Safeguarding Referrals/concerns are compliant with current guidelines demonstrating a good understanding of the Safeguarding Adults procedures.
10. Communicate Safeguarding Adult matters across the Trust and communicate effectively with clients, relatives, staff and managers, both verbally and in writing as appropriate.
11. Be highly visible across the Trust and act as a resource to empower staff.
12. Implement and evaluate practice in accordance with the Trust's governance framework ensuring an annual audit programme is in place.
13. Support the Lead Professional for Safeguarding on the publication of the Trust's safeguarding Annual report.
14. Lead on implementing findings from Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SAR), Domestic Homicide Reviews (DHR) or in cases where "lessons to learn" are necessary.
15. Ensure the Duty of Candour is applied.
