We currently have an opening for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Barnstaple. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering a salary of £34,368 - £40,279 per annum, plus benefits.
About the role:
As our Mechanical Engineer, you will fault find, repair, and maintain South West Water (SWW) assets across various sites, primarily water treatment works, pumping stations, and service reservoirs. Your goal will be to ensure maximum asset availability and support SWW's vision by minimizing compliance risks and preventing pollution.
What you will be doing:
1. Perform reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment to high standards
2. Provide detailed specifications for parts and stock replacements
3. Manufacture and fabricate parts and equipment
4. Undertake necessary training to ensure safe and legal work practices
5. Complete scheduled work activities
6. Assist operational staff with complex problem resolution
7. Keep internal customers informed about activities affecting their processes
8. Use or request method statements and safe systems of work for your activities
9. Act as the duty Mechanical Craftsperson on standby/call-out rota
What we are looking for:
1. Completed apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline
2. Understanding of RAMS for effective and safe maintenance
3. Wastewater treatment process experience (desirable)
4. Ability to fault find and repair large, complex mechanical equipment
