Project Manager (Unified Comms) Permanent Location: Home / Cambridge (Hybrid) Salary: £46,000 - £53,000 ( excellent benefits) We are looking to recruit a Project Manager to join a leading public sector organisation. This is a hybrid role and you will be required on site in Cambridge once / twice a week. Working across projects related to Unified Communications you'll oversee and contribute directly to the architecture, configuration, and development of systems. The role requires strong expertise in IT, networking, and project management, alongside the ability to lead diverse stakeholders and ensure successful delivery of complex projects. Key Responsibilities Project Management Lead technical projects from initiation to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. Develop and apply project plans using PRINCE2 principles and ensure consistent documentation and record-keeping. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals and user requirements. Manage the lifecycle of projects, including risk management, stakeholder engagement, and post-project evaluation. Ensure seamless handover of completed projects to the operational environment, including service acceptance. Technical Expertise Actively engage in the architecture, configuration, and administration of systems, including telephony, VoIP, and IT infrastructure. Provide hands-on development and configuration of business systems to meet user and organisational needs. Maintain and enhance technical environments, including Microsoft servers, SQL Server, and virtualisation technologies. Collaborate with IT vendors on network configuration, firewalls, VLANs, and other technical requirements. Financial and Workforce Management Manage project budgets and ensure adherence to financial controls, delivering cost-effective solutions. Support procurement processes and ensure value for money in all project expenditures. Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development. Communication and Reporting Provide regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders. Liaise with communications teams to provide updates and briefings for impacted users. Deliver presentations and actively engage stakeholders to ensure project alignment and success. Essential Skills and Qualifications Qualifications Degree or equivalent professional qualification. PRINCE2 Foundation certification or equivalent project methodology qualification. Proven track record of professional development. Experience Experience in technical project management within IT, voice, or contact centre environments. Proven success in project planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and change management. Hands-on IT experience in support, development, or implementation roles. Technical Knowledge Strong understanding of Microsoft Stack, SQL Server, and virtualisation technologies. Knowledge of networking, Windows Server, and IT infrastructure. Experience with tools like SSIS, SSRS, and PowerBI is desirable. Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities. Ability to manage parallel tasks and deliver under tight deadlines. Proactive problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
