To lead and manage Business Development efforts for Shoosmiths Real Estate Group, driving strategy and business development (BD) activities, generating new business, and overseeing operational efficiency. The role is pivotal in supporting the firm’s ambitious growth plans. This role is responsible for creating and driving the real estate BD strategy, aligned with Shoosmiths 2030 vision, in addition to helping to acquire new clients and expand existing client relationships.
The role will have a strong emphasis on outputs and collaborate closely with Shoosmiths Business Development and Marketing Directorate, which is at the forefront of our strategic growth, driven by a commitment to dynamic, tech-savvy, and operationally efficient practices.
Main Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
* Lead the development and execution of the firm’s Real Estate Groups BD strategic plan.
* Support the firm’s revenue growth efforts by identifying and evaluating new potential markets.
* Work closely with senior management to align the group’s goals with the firm’s overall objectives.
* Monitor, analyse and communicate market, industry and competitive trends for the Real Estate Group and related specialisms.
Business & Client Development:
* Develop and implement strategic BD plans to generate new business opportunities and tangible outputs.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners.
* Identify and pursue opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling within the firm’s existing client base.
* Actively develop sales of the Real Estate Groups product offerings.
* Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.
* Collaborate with the Heads of across other groups to enable real estate teams to develop opportunities to scale corporate real estate services in M&A, divestments, reorganizations, and post-acquisition integration.
* Work with partners and business development staff to conduct and promote post-transaction reviews in order to obtain client feedback and assist in improving client service.
Operational Management:
* Oversee the BD day-to-day operations of the Real Estate Group.
* Ensure efficient workflow and resource allocation within the team.
* Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve operational performance.
* Collaborate with other groups and sectors to ensure seamless service delivery.
* Monitor financial performance and implement BD strategies to achieve revenue targets.
* Have oversight of development and management of the group’s BD budget.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of real estate professionals.
* Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
* Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
