Are you a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/Heavy Vehicle Technician looking to join a Defence company where you will be given the opportunity to work on various US military heavy vehicles and equipment. The ideal Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/Heavy Vehicle Technician be local to Fairford, UK or within a suitably commutable distance and want to work on Heavy Military Vehicle as a Mechanic and able to get Security Clearance. Purpose and Scope: Operates, repairs, and maintains heavy power construction equipment such as compressors, pumps, hoists, shovels, trucks, tractors, graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, scrapers, motor graders, skid steers and associated equipment, and fire trucks. Essential Responsibilities: Perform heavy equipment maintenance activities including installation, repair, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. Responsible for operating equipment to maintain roadways and firebreaks by excavating, moving, and grading earth. Disassemble and reassemble engines and mechanical units to inspect and diagnose parts using computerized test equipment, calibration devices, gauges, etc. Repair and overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment. Repair air conditioning systems. Calibrate load monitoring indicators to ensure safe and reliable lifts. Rebuild hydraulic cylinders, valves, planetary drive units, suspensions, springs, bushings, and kingpins. Replace seals and bearings, axel brakes, and crane rigging. Rebuild hydraulic cylinders, valves, planetary drive units, suspensions, springs, bushings, and kingpins. Act as point-of-contact for maintenance issues in absence of Maintenance Supervisor or Foreman. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: High school diploma or equivalent Two (2) to Five (5) years of experience in operating and maintaining heavy equipment. Licensed or trained to operate applicable items of heavy equipment. Must be experienced in the repair of major systems. Prefer motor vehicle air conditioning certification and experience. Specialized knowledge and skills in diesel and heavy automotive repair and maintenance. Skilled in replacing major components and parts on engineering and construction equipment. Practical understanding of theory of hydraulics (Pascal Theory), pulley, and gear ratio. Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings. Knowledge of diagnostics and ability to conduct technical research on the computer. Prefer knowledge of US military heavy vehicles and equipment, Material Handling Equipment (MHE), OSHA, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), military regulations standards, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirements Must be able to speak, read and write English. Must UK citizen Contract Requirements in accordance with Appendix J: Completed training in Vehicle Maintenance or related field from military technical school or an accredited technical school/college/university.
