Thrive Oldham are recruiting for a School Finance Advisor based in the Leicestershire area.
We're looking for innovative and dynamic individuals with a working knowledge of schools' financial management systems, for example, SIMS FMS, ACCESS, etc., with a clear understanding of school financial management processes, and an enthusiasm and passion to enable schools to understand their budget, meet statutory requirements, and provide the highest level of customer satisfaction.
The School Financial Advisor vacancy is for 4 members of staff, and we are offering flexible working hours either full-time, part-time, or term-time.
The successful candidates must have a 'can do' attitude, an ability to work on their own supporting a number of different school-based staff, and to be an integrated member of the School Financial Advisor Team.
The role will be temporary in the first instance. Candidates must have an Enhanced DBS.
Liaison With: Governors, Headteacher, School-based admin staff, and the Financial Advice and Information Team.
Job Purpose: To independently provide a comprehensive on-site school-based financial and administrative management service in accordance with the Service Level Agreement, Local Management of Schools, and appropriate regulations.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintenance, control, and monitoring of computer finance accounts and other related records to ensure compliance with the Local Management of Schools Scheme of Delegation and appropriate financial regulations for a number of schools and colleges.
2. Plan, prepare, and evaluate annual school budgets in accordance with the school's development plan, through the provision of income and expenditure projections, using current information, legislation, and historic spend patterns. To be able to project budgets for up to 5 years for longer-term planning.
3. Responsible for the preparation of monthly detailed and complex financial reports and analysing data for budget tracking for budget managers, headteachers/principals, and governors' meetings. To attend meetings as requested to advise governing bodies with accurate information.
4. Ability to work with and support a number of different school-based staff and to be an integrated member of the School Financial Advisor Team.

The nature of the work may involve the postholder carrying out work outside of normal working hours. The postholder may be required to attend training courses, conferences, seminars, or other meetings as required by their own training needs and the needs of the service. Expenses will be paid in accordance with the Local Conditions of Service. This post is subject to a check being carried out at an Enhanced level by the Criminal Records Bureau regarding any previous criminal record. The probationary period for this post will, where necessary, be extended to cover 6 months of school-based working. Qualifications: Finance Qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 4.
Experience:
* Demonstrable bookkeeping/accounting experience.
* Experience of working in a school office, preferably using the SIMS accounting package.
* Experience of working with spreadsheets.
Knowledge:
* Evidence of a current working knowledge of computer operation using an accounting package.
* Knowledge of school or county council budgetary and accounting procedures.
Skills:
* Evidence of a good standard of numeracy and literacy.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
* The ability to manage own time effectively.
* A good standard of computer skills using Word and Excel or similar.
