Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Digital team as a Lead Transmission Operator in our Digital Events Management team.
The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for maintaining the scheduled play out of multiple Live events across multiple platforms. They will also stand in for the Transmission Supervisor (TS), who is the primary contact for all transmission matters and is responsible for the identification, investigation and resolution of technical or operational issues.
This role is ideal for a Transmission Operator looking for that next exciting step up in their career. A perfect opportunity to still be involved in the day-to-day transmission operations whilst gaining an increased level of responsibility for the facility and staff.
Responsibilities
1. Responsible for multiple live events
2. Ensure seamless playout of live events
3. Monitor feeds on platforms such as Discovery+
4. Perform service recovery when required to minimize outages
5. React to issues in the required manner
6. Raise any technical issues to the Transmission Supervisor or Management team
7. Ensure all Live events are scheduled correctly
8. Carry out checks pre, post and during live events
9. Review staff and escalate any issues or clashes
10. Test new technology alongside the Supervisors
11. Identify and request missing assets
12. Prepare and test for live events
13. Ensure all content is available after the live as a VOD
14. Hand over any issues awaiting resolution to the next shift, and log accurately
15. Assist and operate in other operational roles within the department as required
16. Attend department meetings when required
17. Ensure all operational procedures are followed
18. Train and mentor new Operators who join the team
19. Act as POC as most senior person in Digital when the Supervisor is not on shift
20. Lead, motivate and organize a team of shift Digital Operators
21. Minimize the effects of technical failure on the business and ensure the failure is remedied as quickly as possible
22. Liaise with numerous departments and uplink providers
23. Produce reports detailing all issues
24. Responsible for exceptions planning and making decisions regarding late changes if necessary
25. Raise technical issues with support engineer and ensure all details are captured and logged
26. Keep the operational area in good order to meet our aspirations
27. Perform other duties as management may reasonably require
Requirements:
1. Experience within a multi-channel, fully automated transmission environment
2. Considerable experience within a live sports transmission environment
3. A good operational knowledge of transmission technologies
4. Previous experience of Inflow and FLEX AMPP is preferable
Onsite Working - This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement, where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
