Job Summary
We are delighted to advertise for a Principal Clinical Psychologist for our Manchester Older Adult Service. You will join a warm, enthusiastic and innovative service and work as a senior clinician in a team of 6 qualified and 2 assistant psychologists. As well as delivering high quality clinical assessments and interventions, you will support the clinical lead in the development of new services and ensure that current services are in line with the best possible practice. You will be well supported, have excellent CPD opportunities, and will be actively encouraged to participate in research. Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will work clinically into one of our 3 CMHTs and work alongside the current senior clinical psychologist in the team to work directly and indirectly with clients with a range of complex difficulties. The post holder will also complete cognitive assessments to support the diagnosis of dementia as needed and will be job planned to contribute to the Manchester wide Complex Emotional and Relational Needs pathway.
The post holder will work closely with clinical leads to develop services in line with national guidance and ensure that all provision is seamless, person-centered, and trauma-informed. They will oversee relevant audits and service evaluations and attend service meetings as needed. The post holder will provide clinical and managerial supervision for junior psychology staff and deputize for the psychology clinical lead if requested.

Person Specification
Experience
Essential
* Significant experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist in a relevant service
* Experience of conducting highly specialist psychological assessments including cognitive assessments
* Experience of working with families and carers
* Experience of supervising assistants, trainees, and other relevant staff
* Experience of conducting complex risk assessments
* Experience of teaching and training of staff in psychological skills and concepts
Desirable
* Experience of working in an Older Adult Service
* Experience of service development
* Some experience of NHS management tasks (e.g., recruitment and selection).
Qualifications
Essential
* Post-graduate doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those trained before 1996) as accredited by the BPS
* Additional accredited training in an evidenced-based psychological therapy which supports working with high levels of complexity and risk, or working towards accreditation
* Registered as a practitioner psychologist by HCPC
Desirable
* Training in management skills
* Training in supervision skills
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Knowledge of relevant National Frameworks and guidance documents
* Ability to complete audits and evaluations
Desirable
* Record of having published in peer-reviewed journals or books
* Experience of managing junior staff, including appraisal and KSF reviews
