Main duties of the job
There are bank assignments all around the Trust, including our community settings in Haltwhistle, Berwick, Alnwick, Morpeth, Rothbury, Blyth as well as our main hospitals in Hexham, Ashington, North Tyneside and Cramlington. We have a range of shifts 7 days per week including day shifts, earlies, lates, twilight, nights and weekends. With bank you can pick and choose which shifts suit you.
Performs a range of advanced healthcare science activities, principally within the area of clinical physiological assessment.
Provide highly specialist advice and training to staff within own area and other professionals.
Actively involved in data collection, research and development projects.
Supervises and trains less experienced staff and trainees.

Job responsibilities
Establish and maintain first class working relationships with colleagues, medical staff and other health care professionals.
To communicate highly complex procedures in simple terms to patients, their relatives and other healthcare professionals.
To communicate highly complex, scientific, mathematical, statistical and regulatory knowledge and advice to medical staff, other clinical scientists and medical technologists.
To provide accurate oral and written reports of investigations performed.
Communicate sensitive information and test results only to appropriate staff.
To liaise with scientists, colleagues, medical staff, other healthcare professionals, Trust support services and equipment suppliers as appropriate.
Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Professional Registration
Essential
* First or second class honours degree in a relevant science or engineering subject.
* Appropriate post-graduate degree at master's level, or equivalent level of specialist knowledge.
* Registered Clinical Scientist, or working towards registration.
Desirable
* Higher degree in a relevant subject.
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
* Highly specialist in-depth knowledge and understanding of current legislation and regulations pertinent to working area and the protection of staff, patients and members of the public.
* Advanced knowledge of working area, enabling postholder to advise on the appropriateness of techniques, and to collaborate with clinicians in their interpretation and reporting.
* In-depth knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
* Specialist Knowledge in the field of Urodynamic science.
* Up to date knowledge of Trust policies and procedures regarding control of infection.
Desirable
* Quality assurance and calibration procedures relating to a range of clinical measurement equipment.
* Research, service development and audit.
* Experience in training and supervision of trainees.
* Formal presentations at local, national or international meetings.
Skills & Abilities
Essential
* Teaching, training and mentoring skills.
* IT skills including database and spreadsheet use.
Desirable
* Practical skills relevant to urodynamic measurement.
* Clinical or technical reporting skills for a limited range of clinical measurements in urodynamics.
