Job summary LEARNING DISABILITIES SERVICE: We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychologist Band 8c Pay scale: £70,417 rising to £81,138 after 5 years Job plan and flexible working arrangements to be discussed prior to appointment The post holder will be based within our Intensive Support Team and work into our inpatient Assessment and Treatment Team, as well as offering clinical consultation, leadership and oversight of the psychology team within Learning Disability Services spanning across our adult and children's services. The current psychology team comprises of: 3 x Clinical Psychologists 1 x Psychological Therapist 4 x Assistant Psychologists The service frequently hosts trainees on placement from the Staffordshire University DClin Psych course. The consultant will be a member of the LD senior management team, leading on psychological service development across LD services. The trust has strong links with the Staffordshire Clinical Doctorate course and there is an emphasis on leading and developing psychological clinical research as part of the role. Applicants will be a core member of LD services with multi-disciplinary teams. Experience in clinical supervision is required to supervise Senior Clinical Colleagues. Leadership experience is essential, including strategic and workforce planning for the psychology team. Main duties of the job Responsible for the delivery of highly specialist psychological care to clients with learning disabilities with highly complex physical and mental health conditions which include challenging behaviours and possible risk of physical aggression. To be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families. To provide specialist clinical supervision, leadership and training to the Psychology core team and colleagues within the designated psychology services and to other members of the multidisciplinary team, where required.
