Senior Test Engineer
Irvine, CA (Onsite)
Position Summary
Thales is looking for a Sr Test Engineer whose primary responsibility of the Senior Test Engineer is to provide Engineering Testing support in the development of aircraft monuments and engineering design developed by the Aircraft Installation Engineering team.
In this position, the test engineer supports both production and qualification tests. Responsibilities include understanding the design, developing test plans, supporting test campaigns, and creating test reports. Responsibilities also include maintaining and operating test equipment, setting up the test environment, and liaison with external stakeholders (Avionics authority, Boeing, Airbus, suppliers, and test labs).

Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Qualification Testing: Generate test plans to qualify racks and monuments developed by Aircraft Installation Engineering department. Support and/or set- and perform qualification testing of said racks and monuments. Create test reports per FAA, EASA, Airbus, and/or Boeing requirements. Supports and participates in internal and external design reviews (ITCM, PDR, CDR, FAI, etc.)
2. Acceptance Testing: ATP and ATPRs for racks, monuments, and cables developed by Aircraft Installation Engineering department. Support and/or set-up and perform Acceptance Testing of said rack, monuments, and cables.
3. Seat Group Testing: Act as backup to existing Seat Group Test Engineer. Design test adapters as necessary. Familiarize self with test scripts and Seat ATP testing suite.
4. System Testing: Perform lab conformities for system labs as necessary.
5. Communication: Participates to the development of a monthly system reliability reports and presentations. Can communicate with external parties (Airline Customers and OEMs) with guidance and direction. Can communicate the following with approval to internal and external parties as it pertains to Aircraft Engineering deliverables: system requirements, schedule, changes to product/design, and installation design.
Minimum Qualifications
6. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Aeronautics Engineering, or related discipline.
7. Experience using 2D CAD required.
8. Minimum 5 years of experience working with aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documentation, and an understanding of FAA, Airbus, and Boeing rack and monument qualification requirements. Ability to read and follow a Wiring Diagram.
9. Work shifts and/or weekend schedule as required by workload, programs, and contracts.
10. Proven ability to comprehend functional operation, analyze problems using logical deduction and empirical evaluations and identify root cause and corrective actions. Ability to prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate technical information to stakeholders.
11. Successful candidate will be expected to ramp-up quickly, take ownership of tasks, and operate effectively and autonomously across multiple entities, with only high-level technical direction.
Special Position Requirements
12. Schedule: Core business hour Monday to Friday. Hybrid remote work with a minimum of 2 days in the office may be possible and need to be agreed with manager.
13. Travel: Anticipated travel estimated at as much as 25% annually.
14. Physical Environment: Require access to production area. Small weight might be carried, up to 10lbs.

What We Offer
The anticipated TTC range for this role is $97,838.13 – 181,699.38 USD Annual. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
