What you’ll be responsible for
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has a programme to maintain and develop technologies in support of the operational business. The Integrated Technology Service (ITS) team is responsible for supporting this programme and for delivering these projects through its partnership with a number of outsourced IT partners.
Given the nature of the business it is essential that ITS provides reliable and resilient IT services within a 24x7x365 environment to support operational requirements. Reporting to the tower Technical Design Architect, the Technical Architect is required to ensure all artifacts conform to best practice in technical design for technologies within the portfolio.
The Technical Architect is responsible for ensuring agreed design principles are adopted and maintained across all new technologies. Candidates will have to have experience of managing and maintaining sound architectural principles.
Post holders must demonstrate capability in a number of the following areas:
* Active Directory
* Identity & Authentication Services
* Microsoft System Centre
* PKI
* Conditional Access Services
Who you’ll work with
You will be working within a dynamic team of technical architects on a wide range of technologies. In addition to enterprise applications, you will also be working with the Technical Design Architects to define roadmaps and to support project implementation for infrastructure and cloud-based services, servicing the needs of business colleagues within Welsh Water. A key element of this role will be liaising with Welsh Water’s IT Framework Partners, providing appropriate guidance and governance within agreed architectural principles and standards around the systems you will design.

Experience, Qualifications and Skills
* Excellent knowledge of infrastructure, architecture, service provision and Cloud services
* Broad knowledge and understanding of a complex applications and technology infrastructure
* A good level of experience of working with highly skilled technical teams covering relevant technologies
* Have excellent relationship management skills
* Be able to work in a pressurised situation during incidents
* Must be a team player with a strong emphasis on providing excellent customer service
Good to know
* Flexible/Hybrid working although expectation to visit the Cardiff office as and when required
* Requirement to participate in a standby rota
