Purpose of Role
We are looking for a Critical Shift Engineer to join our building services team at RAF High Wycombe.
Working as part of the maintenance team, the Critical Day Shift Engineer will report to the Critical Operations Manager and be responsible for the PPM Maintenance and reactive delivery.
Job Description
The shift team is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of the site electrical/ mechanical/ building services plant & equipment and engineering services.
Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the operational control of an allocated shift techs for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of the site electrical/ mechanical/ building services plant & equipment and engineering services within a high security asset.
2. Perform planned preventative maintenance, statutory compliance tasks and reactive works investigations/repairs on mechanical, electrical & building services systems.
3. Service, test, diagnose and repair process control systems and automatic control devices related to the building services plant and equipment.
4. Liaise / assist with other services as necessary for the efficient delivery of work activities, workmanship, and productivity to comply with the performance standards.
5. Use provided test and monitoring equipment for the purpose of maintaining engineering system operational performance and to aid fault diagnostics and repair.
6. Carry out electrical, mechanical and system checks associated with maintaining a compliant environment in the relevant areas in accordance with current legislation.
7. You will be or will be trained to be a certified AP electrical operative.
8. Carry out Skilled Person duties as required for the engineering services on site in compliance with JSP375 Volume 3 as applicable, including preparation of installations for others.
9. Provide technical advice and support to shift teams and 3rd party contractors working in the building.
10. Ensure health, safety and other statutory compliance appropriate to the role.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
1. NVQ 2/3, ONC/D or equivalent in a building services, engineering, or related discipline.
2. Experience of both open and closed protocol BMS systems (Johnson, Honeywell, Satchwell etc.), network-based fire alarm, CCTV, access control systems, IDS, PA/VA and other electronic building service.
3. Ability to manage several services simultaneously in accordance with the company’s and client’s expectations.
4. Work experience in a MOD environment and compliance with Safe Systems of Work (JSP 375, Vol 3).
5. Experience of working to Critical Engineering Risk Management protocols.
6. Experience of HV/LV electrical systems, large UPS and generator systems.
7. Team Leadership experience.
