University Hospital Dorset is one of Britain's leading healthcare providers in the NHS. It was created in October 2020 by bringing together two Trusts: Poole Hospital and Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch.
The new Trust has a turnover of approximately £750m and employs over 9,000 members of staff.
We are seeking to appoint a new Group Director of Operations to our Medical Care Group for a fixed period of 12 months. The Medical Care Group is one of three Care Groups in the Trust. It covers all aspects of medicine and is split across four directorates including Emergency & Urgent Care, Older People's Services and Acute Care, Networked Medicine and Specialist Medicine across all Trust hospital sites.

The Group Director of Operations is a key leadership role with the Trust, responsible for the safe and effective delivery of services. The successful applicant will work as part of a triumvirate to deliver the strategic ambitions of the Trust.
The total Care Group budget to manage is £220 million and a staff group of circa 2500 members.
The post holder will be accountable for the performance of their Care Group alongside the Group Director of Nursing and Group Medical Director in delivering national and local health care priorities, ensuring clinical quality, delivery of all constitutional standards, patient safety, finance and improving patient and staff experience.

Strategically, the Care Group Director will have a key enabling role in aligning site operational priorities with the ambition and vision of supporting the delivery of the Dorset Clinical Services review.
