An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to work within our Integrated Discharge Team at Eastbourne District General Hospital.
As part of this role, you will work within a team of Occupational Therapists providing a high level of rehabilitation to patients admitted following their admission to hospital.
You will be required to work alongside the therapists and autonomously carrying out exercise and maintenance programmes. Your role will also involve you supporting with both group and rehabilitation sessions planned by a therapist.
You will be joining a large supportive team passionate about caring for the residents of East Sussex. You will have the opportunity to attend an in-service training programme and complete supervision sessions with your line manager.
You may be responsible for supporting with the completion of data inputting and assisting with the ordering of equipment through the Millbrook system to ensure timely discharge for patients across the trust.

Main duties of the job
* To assist registered practitioners in supporting patients with a rehabilitation programme, promoting independence and supporting active recovery.
* To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing therapeutic care as delegated by the registered practitioner(s).
* To work closely with patients and their families/carers under distant supervision of the registered practitioners providing accurate feedback to the appropriate practitioner(s).
* This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.
Job responsibilities
* To carry out delegated rehabilitation programmes which will include occupational therapy and physiotherapy, as directed by qualified professionals.
* To be responsible for coordinating own workload and ensure patients receive treatment sessions as directed by qualified professionals.
* To provide regular feedback about patient progress to qualified professionals.
* Be responsible for the safe use of equipment.
* To recognise the specific aspects of the treatment session which should be fed back to qualified members of staff to enable them to progress or modify goals appropriately.
* To be actively involved in the implementation of and compliance with Mandatory Training.
* To be familiar with and work in accordance with Trust and Service Guidelines and Policies.
* To participate in formal personal development review and informal clinical supervision.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade 4 or GCSE C and above.
* Level 2 functional skills or health care support worker apprenticeship / NVQ level 2 in relevant subject.
* Level 3 apprenticeship for example senior health care support worker or similar and/or NVQ level 3 in relevant subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
Experience
* Experience in health or social care settings such as employment, work experience volunteering or placements.
* Demonstrate the values of the NHS and commitment to personal and professional development.
Skills
* Demonstrating respect, kindness and empathy at all times.
* Understanding of role boundaries and the importance of supervision and carrying out appropriately delegated tasks.
* Able to understand and follow procedures, protocols, and plans.

£24,071 to £25,674 per annum, pro rata.
