1. To drive passenger carrying vehicles associated with collecting and returning passengers. To assist passengers when necessary and to carry out ancillary administrative and other duties related to the post in accordance with Management requirements.
2. To carry out other non-passenger driving tasks as required by Management.
3. To fulfil all statutory requirements and comply with relevant road safety requirements and the Highway Code including Codes of Practice as amended and updated.
4. To possess a valid an appropriate driving licence for the work required and to be trained to the necessary standard if required.
5. To be responsible for the safety of all passengers on board the vehicle.
6. To keep Management informed of any changes that affect entitlement (penalty points etc).
7. To demonstrate a flexible approach in the undertaking of the full range of duties including differing start and finish times and a range of non-passenger work.
8. Not to allow any unauthorised passengers to be carried on the vehicles without the prior consent of Transport Management.
9. To be aware of the special needs of the passenger groups, including those who may demonstrate behavioural problems, to ensure their safety at all times and to report immediately to Transport Management any concern regarding passengers who need medical attention or who appear unwell.
10. To convey passengers travelling in wheelchairs and to operate all safety equipment (including tail-lifts) in the prescribed manner in accordance with training modules.
11. To carry out daily defect reporting requirements that include:- check tax disc, oil, water, fuel, windscreen washers and wipers, condition of tyres and tyres pressures, tail-lift if fitted, ensure that safety mechanisms are working and that sufficient and appropriate safety equipment is on the vehicle for the needs of the passengers, is fit for purpose and in good working order before leaving the Depot.
12. To report minor vehicle defects to Transport Management using the form provided. Serious vehicle defects must be reported to Transport Management immediately.
13. To clean the vehicle on a regular basis both inside and out taking Health & Safety requirements into consideration and in the event of any accidents/incidents to undertake specialist cleaning as necessary.
14. To drive vehicles in a safe and appropriate manner ensuring that you do not leave the embarkation point until passengers are safely on board and accounted for and that all passengers are safely seated and secured.
15. To transport passengers without a passenger assistant as directed by Management.
