Protocol Eduation are working with a special needs school in Slough who are looking to appoint a HLTA to cover teacher PPA time as well as take some classes and support the full time class teacher deliver the curricullum.
The role will be varied and interesting and you must have a flexible and adaptable approach to devise strategic ways to support these children achieve their full potential, whilst ensuring it is adapted to meet their individual needs.
This School supports children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) to access an education that is designed around their capability and encourages an inclusive and diverse culture.
The school follows the National Curriculum, differentiated for individual pupils where necessary. Curriculum events enrich the pupils’ learning – these include music days, community days with local agencies such as Aik Saath, Enterprise Days and Sports and Well-being days.
The Role:
As a HLTA you will:
* Under the direction of the class teacher, devise and plan appropriate learning activities for each individual child to ensure they are able to get the most out of their learning
* Support and report on Pupil's educational progress
* Cover the class teacher during their PPA time
* Take small groups of children to enhance learning
The successful applicant will:
* Deal with situations calmly and sensitively
* Be creative and ‘think outside of the box’ in their approach to supporting pupils with additional needs
* Have strong abilities to develop strong and trusting relationships
* Be a team player and able to work closely with other staff members and third parties
* Care deeply about pupils academic, emotional, and personal development and have empathy for their individual circumstances
* Have a supportive and encouraging attitude, to inspire trust and to motivate students
* Be able to use their initiative in meeting the needs of the student, depending on their individual communication, and learning skills
* Have a proven track record of working with young people or vulnerable adults, either on a paid or voluntary basis
* Have basic IT skills/ understanding
