Overview
Saiia Construction Company LLC, a MasTec company, is currently hiring for Heavy Equipment Operators - Loader, Roller, Articulating Truck, Water Truck, and Skid Steer - for a job in Birmingham, AL.
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, graders, dump trucks, front-end loaders, compactors, scrapers, and water trucks to move materials to and from designated areas, participate in required training, and ensure all established safety rules, procedures, policies, OSHA, and MSHA regulations are followed.
Responsibilities
Excavator Operation
* Operates excavator to dig holes and trenches and transport earth, gravel, and other materials. Starts engine and uses hand and foot levers to control hydraulic shovel or other attachments.
Bulldozer - Grader Operator
* Operates bulldozer or grader to gouge out, level, and distribute soil and other materials. Moves levers and pedals to maneuver equipment and clear right of way.
Rock / Articulated/Dump / Roll Off Truck Driver
* Operates truck equipped with dump body to transport and dump loose materials. Pulls levers to tilt body and dump contents.
Scraper / Tractor Operator
* Operates tractor-drawn or self-propelled scraper to move, haul, and grade earth on construction sites.
Water Truck Driver
* Operates a truck to transport water for construction projects and spray water on roadways to control dust.
Qualifications
* Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, MSHA and other related state and federal regulations.
* Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
* Ability to use email and manage company information.
* Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
* Must maintain acceptable attendance standards.
* Approach work in a meticulous and timely manner.
Physical Requirements:
* Lift/Carry 0-10 lbs.: Occasionally
* Lift/Carry 10-50 lbs.: Occasionally
* Reach Above: Occasionally
* Bend/Stoop: Occasionally
* Use Hands for Manipulations: Continuously
* Vision Abilities: Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
* Hearing Abilities: Must hear equipment signals and communications.
